Preclinical Research Study
To evaluate the biological activity of natto powder, in vitro studies were conducted using multiple human-derived tumor cell lines, including HeLa (cervical cancer), A549 (lung adenocarcinoma), and NALM-6 (lymphoblastic leukemia).
Cell proliferation assays (MTT and CCK-8) were performed under various concentrations and exposure times (24h / 48h / 72h).
Results demonstrated:

Natto powder exhibited concentration-dependent inhibitory trends across all tested cell lines;

The lowest IC50 observed was 0.057 mg/ml in A549 cells at 72 hours;

HeLa cells showed an IC50 of 0.08 mg/ml at 72 hours;

NALM-6 cells demonstrated an IC50 of 0.143 mg/ml at 48 hours.
These findings are based on in vitro cell studies and indicate measurable biological activity of natto-derived components, providing experimental data support for further functional ingredient development.
Clinical Follow-Up Study
From August 2019 to June 2020, under the guidance of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, a 6-month clinical follow-up study was conducted by the Department of Cardiology at the First Clinical Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital to evaluate the applicability of natto products manufactured by Tianjin Baoheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
During the observation period, trends of improvement were noted in carotid plaque area and quantity indicators, along with changes in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels.
This clinical follow-up provides observational data supporting the potential application of natto-derived active components in cardiovascular health-related fields, offering a scientific foundation for further functional product development.
